It’s great to be back in Siem Reap after 2 years away and to FINALLY meet the MaD Team face to face! So it’s 24/7 work on The CHALLENGE! Oh my Buddha what excitement!
The lemon is on the Gin and Tuk Tuks and today this week thatch went on to the roof for the “Same Same but Tuk Tuk” team (check photos on the site albums). Sot, one of the fabricators, reckons the ‘barangs’ (foreigners) are CRAZY to want to turn a Tuk Tuk and bike into an Ox and Cart. A brilliant African/Asian mix! Much banter and humour amongst the team. And then it was up to a bashful Pok to take the Same Same Tuk Tuk through town to show it off and cause a bit of a stir…….. much to his embarrassment!! Pok reckons the thatch roof makes it look like he’s riding a big chicken (I can’t see the liking but all to his own).
I’ve arrived at the MaD House to find a household of happy kids, a passionate team and great volunteers! While MaD Adventures is a company on its own – the very reason it’s been set up is to raise funds for MaD - Making a Difference for Good! Projects.
Looking at each project and getting an understanding of how things work here is very important to me so poor old Phil, Conchetta and Palynath have been quizzed and questioned continuously since my arrival while I learn all about their work. And I can only say that I’m proud to be a part of this event as the funds raised will truly be going towards a group doing a fab job.
