First MTTC Bike Arrives

MaD Adventures has started taking delivery of our MaD Tuk Tuk Challenge motorcycles today...

This is the first of many. We have lots to do to get the bikes ready...

After taking delivery of the bike we then take it straight round to the Provincial Department of Transportation to get the chassis and engine number recorded and then having parted with US$20 we get the bike registered. - Once we have registered the bike we get a slip of paper to show the Police in case they stop us... registration plates take 4-6 weeks to be made and arrive.

Once we have the registration plate and registration card we go to a separate office were we then buy the 2009 road tax. Thank goodness this is a token amount at the moment - US$1.70 per year!!!!!

But then - hang on - have you seen most Cambodian roads????

Once we get the bike back to the MaD House we will change the tyres from standard road tyres to knobbly off road tyres... strip off ALL the plastic 'vanity' stuff. and the seat is removed and replaced with a new single seat!

Now the bike is naked and ugly - as you can see from the fotos below!

Now off to the engineering shop down the road to be fitted up with a tuk tuk towing device! This is the way the tuk tuk is attached to the bike for everyday use... very simple yet effective!

Once this bike is ready we will be attaching it to the SAME SAME but Tuk Tuk which will then be running around Siem Reap with its thatched roof as our main promo tuk tuk...
